THE HOLIDAY SEASON

It's that time of year again, time to dust off the seasonal DVDs and relive our favorite holiday memories.  None are perhaps as memorable as the greatest film version of Charles Dickens' classic, "A Christmas Carol", as the 1951 B&W Scrooge.  Alistair Sim turns in a wonderful performance that embodies the meaning of Ebenezer Scrooge and the Dickensian Christmas itself.

A rehashed version of a tired old story, Lost in Translation is a fitting title for a film where its story must have been lost in the translation from Coppola's mind to paper, and then from paper to film. This should be sold in a DVD box set with Wag the Dog as part of an educational package for film school students about the horrors of craming a movie out in less than a month.

What we are dealing with here is 100% pure non-concentrate of devil-spawned film crap.  This movie is the worst movie of all-time.  Yet, as a Jaws fan you are drawn to it.

Oscar season is a time to look back at some of the work which has received films' highest honor.  Anthony Minghella's The English Patient is not only one of the best of the 1990's,but perhaps one of the best of all-time.
